With a fantastic 20 hectare plot of olive groves and vineyards, this attractive stone building, originally a winery and olive oil press, is now tastefully converted into a charming rural hotel. Finca Santa Marta truly is a country house to relax and enjoy life!
There are 13 rooms, which are distributed between the three ‘casas’, Santa Marta, Santa Teresa and Los Alamos, within the property of the hotel Finca Santa Marta. Individually designed and decorated, they offer you wonderful views over the surrounding countryside with an especially romantic atmosphere.
The patio has orange trees and a profusion of jasmine and roses, and it leads to the old chapel where services are still occasionally held. Above the chapel, the bell tower is home to a magnificent stork’s nest from where the characteristic clacking of beaks can be heard as the birds feed their young.
Painters and artists are drawn to the Finca Santa Marta by the wonderful quality of the light, the fabulous country views and the beauty of the nearby town of Trujillo with its granite houses, mellow pantile roofs and the never-ending circling of birds. This area is home to lesser kestrels, swifts and white storks.
Although Extremadura seems a remote area, it is not difficult to get to. There are direct motorway links to Madrid and Seville for those who are in a hurry.
Located in Trujillo, halfway between Madrid and Lisbon with in the unspoilt region of Extremadura. The area is popular with birdwatchers and nature lovers and is close to the Medieval towns of Merida, Guadalupe, Caceres as well as the Monfragüe nature reserve.
